Bastianini Annoyed, Accuses Aleix Espargaro of 'Racing for Martin'

Rajawali Book - The results of the 2024 Barcelona MotoGP race made Enea Bastianini annoyed. He felt hampered by Aleix Espargaro who was accused of 'racing for Jorge Martin'.

In the final series, Martin secured the 2024 MotoGP world title thanks to a third-place finish. He ended the season with a 10-point lead over Pecco Bagnaia, who crossed the finish line first in Montmelo.

Ahead of the series, Jorge Martin's superiority made him very favored over Pecco Bagnaia. On the other hand, Martin also needed to ensure that he did not crash or finish in 10th position.

In this regard, Bastianini accused Aleix Espargaro, who finally finished fifth, of trying to hold back a number of riders so as not to disturb Martin's pace at the front. Bastianini finally finished seventh, with Espargaro in fifth position.

"I'm not happy at all with what Aleix did. For me, it's not right. He's not his (Martin's) teammate. It's not clean at all," Bastianini said as reported by Crash.net.

"Without the duel with Aleix, maybe I could have made a better result. He did the whole race for Martin! Of course, he's friends with Jorge. But it shouldn't be like this," he said.

With his finish in Montmelo, Enea Bastinini finally ended the season in fourth place. He had to give up third place in the MotoGP standings to Marc Marquez, who finished second in the final race.

"I'm not happy at all with what happened today. It was my last race with Ducati and I didn't have the race I expected," said Bastianini.
