PADANG - A car carrying BRI money for ATM refills was robbed on the Minangkabau International Airport (BIM) flyover in Padang Pariaman Regency, West Sumatra (Sumbar) early Tuesday (27/8/2024).
Quoted from Kompas.com, the robbers managed to take seven boxes containing a total of IDR 5.6 billion.
"That's right. The robbery occurred early this morning at around 02.30 WIB," said the Director of Criminal Investigation of the West Sumatra Police, Senior Commissioner Pol Andry Kurniawan, when contacted by Kompas.com on Tuesday (27/8/2024).
Andry said that the car was carrying money from Padang and had already been refilled at two ATM points on Jalan Khatib Sulaiman Padang and Tabing.
Andry continued, while on the way, the police escort was called by someone who claimed to be from the police and asked for help to deliver goods to his house.
Upon arriving at the BIM flyover, the car carrying the money was asked to stop because there was an appointment at that location.
"However, when the guard came down, he was already being held at gunpoint, so he couldn't move," Andry added.
"Then the robber took the money that was in the safe," Andry explained.
Andry continued, the case is still under investigation.
"Be patient. We are still investigating this. We will provide further information later," Andry concluded.
