JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo warned that today's cyber warfare can paralyze a country's security, defense, and public service functions.
This was conveyed by Jokowi in his address to the newly inaugurated TNI and Polri officers in the Prasetya Perwira ceremony in the courtyard of the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Tuesday (16/7/2024).
"In the field of defense, for example, we are in the fifth generation. Not just physical warfare, but also non-kinetic military action. As well as cyber warfare that can paralyze the functions of security, defense, and public services," said Jokowi, Tuesday.
In addition, the President also conveyed the challenges in the field of law enforcement and security, namely transnational crime, online gambling, human trafficking, and narcotics and illegal drugs.
According to Jokowi, TNI and Polri officers must continue to improve their skills and abilities, innovate, and master digital technology and artificial intelligence in order to be able to overcome these challenges.
"Therefore, you must be superior figures who are professional, reliable and skilled, who master their profession and never stop learning, who can adapt quickly," he said.
The former mayor of Solo also advised that TNI and Polri officers are the backbone of the defense and security of the Indonesian nation.
"Prepare yourselves, brothers and sisters, to serve the nation and state, always be loyal and ready to make sacrifices," said Jokowi.
At today's ceremony, there were 906 prospective young officers (capaja) who were inaugurated as TNI-Polri officers, consisting of 417 capaja from the Military Academy, 129 from the Navy Academy, 113 from the Air Force Academy, and 247 from the Police Academy.
In addition, Jokowi also presented the Adhi Makayasa award to the best graduates from each academy.
